Background

I was born in a little town of Balta, out of Odessa city, Ukraine. First, I spent my green years in Kiev Cadet Military School that influenced me greatly (see my picture on this website, joke), then, I was assigned to the Military Academy of Radioelectronics in St. Petersburg, Russia. After graduating with "distinction", in 1976, as a professional military officer, I traveled a lot all over the Central Asia part of Soviet Union. That was the very place where I started to enjoy mountain trips, hiking, climbing, and guitar songs. During my military service, I came up through the ranks of lieutenant to colonel, ending up my service as a commander of a military base in Tashkent city, Uzbekistan. Having a  profession that traditionally was well respected and prestigious in my society, I always have felt a great pride to defend and protect my country. Everything has been changed after the collapse of the Soviet Union; in 1997 I was discharged with honor, and then, finally, found myself in Miami's tropical climate. After learning some basic English, working night shifts at the air conditioner factory, eventually, the process of Reincarnation has started, and in hot Summer 2000, I entered  FIU, Master in Statistics program, (I guess, the summer was really too hot - joke!) and, mysteriously for myself, graduated in Fall 2002, sustaining 55 graduate credits in Statistics and Mathematics. I recreate myself, gaining a new outlook on life through the hardship of study and training. And now , again, I have a strong filling of satisfaction when I succeed sharing my professional experience, my statistical knowledge to the students, that inspire me to continue efforts at excellence in my educational  service.
