Links to General Finance Sites
- Site for Ph.D. students This
is a great site for Ph.D. students (who should take the hints seriously) or for professors
who have a job (who will laugh a lot). It also has a good list of Web sites for Ph.D.
students, including Why
God Never Got Tenure.
- Ohio State Site An
extremely ambitious Finance site. While some parts are for academics, other areas provide
educational links to other Finance sites and sites of interest to students. [Uses frames,
but Netscape 3.0 is not an absolute requirement.]
- Financial Management Association A major national
association in Finance. Includes a job market for academics.
- Weber/University of
Washington A very comprehensive list of Finance links. While many are academically
oriented, at the bottom of the list there are links to stock quotes, stock analysis,
international stocks, and stock exchanges.
Student Sites: Jobs, Interesting Sites; Sites for Class
- Job Information in Finance
Ohio State Web site on jobs information in Finance. The pages describe the various types
of jobs in Finance. Some staring salaries are listed. Some current job offerings are
given. Check out the rest of their site for additional information for students!
- Financial Management Association Student Club and honor
society.
- Job and Career Site for Finance includes job search
engines and career planning information. Also has links to hundreds of sites of interest.
Also has a Finance glossary (including derivatives) and research links.
- Fortune Magazine lists the following four sites related to online job networking: America's Employers, Career Mosaic, CareerWeb,
The Monster Board. Another job search page is Careerpath - where you can search classified ads in
20 different newspapers, using job categories and keywords. Digital
Financier job market information for financial institutions and corporate recruiters
in Finance by providing links directly to employment pages of banks anc companies.
- StockTrak for those playing the Stocktrak game -
where you can make trades and find out about your portfolio.
- E-Trade Portfolio Simulation Game Provides a FREE
game with $1000 prizes monthly. Personal portfolio chart for your investments.
Research Sites for Academics
- Ohio State Research Site
Research information, data sources, Finance faculty, Educational sites. Uses and very
concise format to link to: Journals, Working Papers, other Finance sites, educational
sources, and sites of interest to students. [Uses frames, but Netscape 3.0 is not an
absolute requirement.]
- FinWeb A "top 5% site"; links
to academic journals, working papers, and data sources
- Weber/University of
Washington A very comprehensive list of Finance links. Has information on SAS, CRSP,
compustat, Datastream, and other sources.
- Links to Papers in Economics
and Finance. Site by Barry Schachter - who links faculty and institutional sites that
provide downloadable papers direct from WWW.
- Econbase Provides article titles
and keywords for 36 journals published by North-Holland since 1994 (including The Journal
of Financial Economics).
- Papers from Financial Economics Network Fee based
service. Abstracts of papers on a weekly basis; also has 1500 abstracts that are
searchable on published articles and working papers. Some on-line full papers. You may
search their Web site for announcements and job information.
- Olsen Associates Papers Papers for downloading
(mostly on currency research) by innovative firm interested in combination of new
techniques and trading models. Also describes some of their research and models,
especially in regards to hedging.
- JPMorgan is an investment banker that is known for
it's Riskmetrics program and associated databases. A sophisticated analysis program, it
has received a lot of interest in the investment community.
- Managed Futures Association Provides conferences,
publications, and grants to academics. The grant
Guidelines are provided on-line. The process involves two steps, involving and initial
letter of "interest" and then a full proposal.
