Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in Advanced Calculus I, MAA 4211.

Course Description: An introduction to real analysis in several variables.

We will go over Chapters 8 through 13 from the textbook.

Suggested homework assignments will be given at the end of each class.

Method of Evaluation: Your final grade in the course is based on:

1.    Worksheets/quizzes and in-class participation (25%).

2.    Two in-class exams: (25% each) Tentative schedule:

         Exam 1 - October 1;

         Exam 2 - November 5.

        

3. FINAL EXAM (25%) December 10, 15:30-18:15 - comprehensive exam.

 

 

Grade-scale: The following percentages will guarantee the associated grade:

             > 92  : A    82-87 : B     67-77 : C      < 55 : F

             89-92 : A-   79-82 : B-    60-67 : D   

             87-89 : B+   77-79 : C+    55-60 : D-

 

 

NO MAKEUP EXAMS OR QUIZZES WILL BE GIVEN. If you have a documented medical or professional excuse for missing an exam, that percentage of your grade will be made up on the final.

 

Attendance: Class attendance is mandatory. If you miss a lecture, it is your responsibility to get the notes from that lecture.

 

 

Important dates: Last day for withdrawal with DR grade: October 22.  

                 No classes on November 28-29 - Thanksgiving Holiday. 

                 Last class meeting: December 3.

                 FINAL EXAM: December 10, 15:30-18:15.
