My first quilt was made entirely
by hand: piecing, stitching, putting the layers together, and
quilting. I took a beginning quilting class when JJ was 2 years
old, and I finished this quilt for his 4th birthday. Note
signature on lower corner of the back, with date inscribed
(embroidered).

Testing out the new quilt on the
lawn - the tough grass makes a soft cushion, and the quilt makes the
grass not poke. Very comfy!

I decided to make the back
softer by using striped flannel, rather cozy. I also added a
sleeve for hanging the quilt someday, somewhere...

When he was little, JJ always
liked fabrics. He and his friend Stephen made quilts for the
animals using scraps from various projects when they were five or
so.
