The public programs
are generally geared to non-scientists and people who are
curious about the nature of the world they live in and typically last an hour.
"Across a Sea of Suns" Dr. Stephen S. Vogt, Lick Observatory, January 11, 2013, CP 145 and at student observing pad. Astronomers, music, refreshments and telescopes!
"Women in Science Lecture" February 8, 2013, Dr.Fiorella Terenzi of FIU talks about her journey through science. THis program is in cooperation with the FIU Womans Studies Center.
"Cosmology" with Dr. Kevin Huffenberger of the University of Miami, February 22, 2013, Location: CP 145. Dr. Huffenberger will talk about his research in the cosmic background radiation. Refreshments and observing after the talk.
"Crossroads: The future of Civilization, March, 2013 @ 8:00 pm. Location: CP 145. Dr. Webb discusses his perception of the direction human civilization is heading.
"End of Semester Star Party" April, 2013, in CP 145 @ 8:00 pm
Location: CP 145. Music, telescopes, munchies, and door prizes. Telescopes, munchies, music and astronomers. Doesn't get any better than that!
