PUBLIC PROGRAMS Spring 2013

The public programs are generally geared to non-scientists and people who are curious about the nature of the world they live in and typically last an hour.

  • "Across a Sea of Suns" Dr. Stephen S. Vogt, Lick Observatory, January 11, 2013, CP 145 and at student observing pad. Astronomers, music, refreshments and telescopes!

  • "Women in Science Lecture" February 8, 2013, Dr.Fiorella Terenzi of FIU talks about her journey through science. THis program is in cooperation with the FIU Womans Studies Center.

  • "Cosmology" with Dr. Kevin Huffenberger of the University of Miami, February 22, 2013, Location: CP 145. Dr. Huffenberger will talk about his research in the cosmic background radiation. Refreshments and observing after the talk.

  • "Crossroads: The future of Civilization, March, 2013 @ 8:00 pm. Location: CP 145. Dr. Webb discusses his perception of the direction human civilization is heading.

  • "End of Semester Star Party" April, 2013, in CP 145 @ 8:00 pm Location: CP 145. Music, telescopes, munchies, and door prizes. Telescopes, munchies, music and astronomers. Doesn't get any better than that!
