Asia Eaton is a feminist social psychologist and Professor of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU), where she directs the Power, Women, and Relationships (PWR) Lab<\/a>.\u00a0She is a Co-Founder and member of the Psychology Ph.D. track in Applied Social and Cultural Psychology<\/a>, as well as being a member of the\u00a0I-O Psychology<\/a> track. She supervises Ph.D. students<\/a> in both programs.<\/p>\n

Asia is\u00a0on leave for the 2025-2026 academic year, serving as Executive Director of Mindbridge<\/a>, the nation<\/span>\u2019s leading<\/span>\u00a0non-profit using brain and behavioral science to empower human rights defenders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Asia is the current Co-Editor of Social Issues and Policy Review<\/em><\/a>. She has received a number of awards, which recently include the Georgia Babladelis Best PWQ Paper Award<\/a> (2026), APA Div. 1’s Citizen Psychologist Award<\/a>\u00a0(2025), and an\u00a0International Visiting Fellowship at the Centre for Protecting Women Online<\/a> (2025).\u00a0She is an APA Fellow in Divisions 1, 9, and 35. Asia’s work has been funded by NSF, Meta, the Australian Research Council, and others.<\/p>\n

Since 2016 Asia has served as the Head of Research<\/a> for Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI), which is working to understand and end the emerging epidemic of image-based sexual abuse in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Asia received a Ph.D. and M.A.\u00a0 in Psychology (social), with a minor in Statistics, from the University of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate work at Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Philosophy. She also earned a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from FIU.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In 2024, Asia edited the book \u201cNavigating Your PhD: Challenges and Strategies for Thriving<\/a>\u201d. While most books on the grad school experience discuss academic milestones, our chapters address issues related to the work-home-life interface, being intended to facilitate a sense of belonging and identification, as well as provide evidence-based recommendations and resources. Chapters cover topics such as mental health in grad school, financial wellness and challenges, and learning academic norms as a working class student. Written by a diversity of current and recent Ph.D. students, every chapter takes into account how the social locations of the author(s) affected their experience. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
