effective method by which we interact with others. This is true
for both our personal lives and our professional lives. Our
transition from a post-industrial society to an information-age
society has intensified the need for functional competence in
speaking and listening. This is especially true for a nation
that has chosen to make an amendment about freedom of speech its
First Amendment.
