| Acoustic astronomy, also called "radio-computer music astronomy" allows astronomical
data to be represented using computer music procedures.
This research project was developed in 1987 as part of Dr. Fiorella Terenzi Doctoral Thesis in Physics at University of California, San Diego, Computer Audio Research Laboratory (CARL) and has demonstrated how electromagnetic radiation coming from the galaxy UGC 6697 could be translated into sound using a sound synthesis language.
