            PREREQUISITE:  Calculus I & Calculus II (Grade C or better)
            A student who does not have a good working knowledge of Calculus I & II has little
            chance of succeeding in this course.
            TEXTBOOK:     A History of Mathematics by Jeff Suzuki (Prentice Hall, 2002)

               EXAM & ATTENDANCE POLICIES:
          1.  For each Exam you will be required to bring your student ID and a blue exam booklet
               (SIZE: 8"x11" - available from the F.I.U. bookstore).
          2.  A make-up test for Exam #1 will be given only there is a verifiable case of illness or
               emergency.  If you miss Exam  #2  for a legitimate reasons that test will be discounted.
          3.  Religious holidays may be accommodated if I am notified in the first 2 weeks of classes.
          4.  Any misconduct will be reported and dealt with according to the Code of Student
               Conduct in the Student Handbook.  Please familiarize yourself with it.
          5.  All cell phones and beepers must be silenced in class.  (Vibrate mode is allowed.)
         
6.  Attendance is mandatory - if you attend less than 60% of the classes you will get an “F”

            SCHEDULE OF EXAMS:
                     Project  #1 (25 points) due 2/5/09  &  Project  #2 (25 points) due  3/26/09
                     Exam #1    (100 points):       THURSDAY,      FEB.  19th,      2:00pm-3:15pm
                     Exam #2    (100 points):       THURSDAY,      APR.    9th,      2:00pm-3:15pm
                     Final Exam (150 points):       THURSDAY (?), APR.  23rd(?), 12:00-200pm (?)*
            *My best guess. (The exact final exam date & time is set by space & scheduling -  please
              check with them & note EARLIER time.)  The final exam will be comprehensive.
