Final exams are graded and the results are posted: the good,
the bad, the ugly? Have a good, safe holiday break. dlr

Calculus I Test 3 Statistics and Answers are up, but ... .
Test 4 will include the material from 6.8, inverse trig functions.
For Graph Theory folks, the 3rd test will include the recently
covered material that deals with optimizing network flows and the
Ford-Fulkerson algorithm from R. Gould's Graph Theory. You will
also find some additional material and links on the Notes page that may be
of interest. In particular, there you can find a small example of the
failure of F-F to terminate and even "converge" to a maximum flow by
U. Zwick. Zwick's example was not known at the time Gould wrote his
text. There are also some other's class materials that may either clarify
matters or confuse you. [In at least one instance, it is not clear
whether the instructor grokked the "labelling algorithm". Perhaps he
thought it too much to digest initially or returned to it later.] One
other thing -- matchings. Take a look at Gould's Chapter 7. You do not
need to print it, but to get an idea of how one might find a maximum
matching in a bipartite graph, read the proof of Theorem 7.1.4
after reading the lead-in on page 6. Onward.
Final Exams: Tentative dates/times/places are posted. The only
place where there may be an alteration is in the Calculus finals,
although I am not really expecting a change at this time. d.l.r.

The Calculus II Test 3 Statistics and Answers are up, but down.
Graph Theory Folks should go to the Nefarious Notes. Please print
yourselves copies of Chapter 4 from R. Gould's text, Graph Theory,
and begin reading it. This will provide the main source for our study of
networks, graphically speaking, of course.

The Test 2 statistics and answer key for Graph Theory are
posted. There is also a 2nd Revised Itinerary/Schedule to map out the end
of the term in Essential Handouts. Cheers. Many happy cycles.

Test 2 statistics and answer keys are up for Calculus I and
II folks. Look under Recent Exam Info. If you have not retrieved Test 2
from me, please do so ASAP. The 5th of November looms ever closer. It
appears to my jaded eyes that there are a fair number who have a decision
to make.

Test 2 for Graph Theory folks will cover through 5.3, that is
Chapter 5, Section 3 of Chartrand and Zhang. [The material on
connectivity is somewhat dense and thorny.] We shall save Menger's
Theorem and its consequences for the next test.

All Test 1 statistics and answer keys are up. Look under
Recent Exam Info.
Graph Theory Folks can find a fairly complete solution to Problem
2.12 of Chartrand and Zhang's` Intro to Graph Theory in the Nefarious
Notes. There is even a silly picture there.

As far as I can tell, both Graph Theory and Calculus I are back in
PC211. The ****ed Emergency Management souls have been doing just a
splendid job of communicating.
4. Sep 15, 2004 15:12
The Emergency Management note on the 1st floor of PC indicates
that the classroom of the day for Calculus II, MAC2312-U08 is DM110.
You did get that e-mail from them didn't you?? [ I'm being facetious. ]
3. Sep 14, 2004 16:02
Tuesday, 14 Sep 2004 Calculus I will meet in PC424.
I should hope this is temporary, but pay attention to university
notices. [This time, we were not e-mailed. Check the 1st floor of
PC near the front and near the elevators.] The room does have a suitable
set of blackboards.
Tuesday, 14 Sep 2004 Graph Theory met briefly in GC140. Continue
reading and working in the text according to the schedule. Hope that we
can return to PC211 soon. :-(
2. Sep 13, 2004 09:23
Monday, 13 Sep 2004, Calculus II will meet in DM164.
I expect this to be temporary, but pay attention to university
notices.
[ Emergency Management Team. Thank Ivan. ]

Calculus I and Graph Theory have Revised Itineraries
[ See Handouts. Thank Frances. ]
