We sincerely apologize for this error and expect that we will have a completely corrected version available to faculty, staff, and students no later than noon on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. This is our highest priority, and the Office of Space and Scheduling will be manually reviewing the schedule to ensure its accuracy during the course of today. The corrected version will adhere to the original final exam schedule posted at the beginning of the semester and will include all special accommodations/changes that were previously approved by the Office of Space and Scheduling. Under separate cover, we will send out multiple communications to students to inform them as well. We apologize for any confusion this has caused and look forward to a successful completion of the term." Once SPACE & SCHEDULING promulgates a new OFFICIAL Final Exam Schedule, I will finalized my Final Exam Information Page. Apologies --- FIU'e again. dlr 5. Final Exam Information
is now "official". Enjoy?? dlr 4. Mon Dec 3 15:00:43 EST 2007 FOLKS!! THE FOLLOWING WAS E-MAILED to me by my department chairperson: "Dear Colleagues, Anna has just told me that Space and Scheduling is having to undertake major revisions to the Fall final exam schedule, so the schedule you have announced to your students might not be valid. She was told that individual faculty will be emailed this afternoon the rooms and times for their final exams. You will need to warn your students as soon as possible of possible changes, both by making announcements in the classrooms and on your webpage. Best, J " When I know the true state of affairs, I will alter my exam page appropriately. FIU lives up to its initials again. dlr 3. Tue Oct 30 16:46:54 EDT 2007 Folks, Just a gentle reminder: Friday, November 2, 2007 is the last day to freely drop courses/withdraw from the University EASILY. Thereafter, things are neither certain nor easy --- since an appeal to the Registrar for a late drop requires that complete written justification and evidence supporting the case be provided. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that the appeal will be approved by the Registrar's Office. [A committee does the deciding.] The results of Test 2 in all sections taught by me are readily available. Come pick up your second and in some cases first test(s). My advice is that if your total for the two tests is less than 100 of the 200 points possible at this time, you should drop and try again in a subsequent term. Regarding INC's: If you are not passing the course with a grade of C or better, you don't qualify. At this point in time, an incomplete is NOT AN OPTION in any case. If you ask after November 2, 2007, and you are not passing, I will suggest the route of the appeal for a late drop. Keep this in mind: with an INC you must complete the work on your own, etc. Onward(?), d.l.r. 2. Tue Oct 9 20:16:56 EDT 2007 Calculus II Folks, The date for Test 2, as given in the Initial Itinerary was incorrect. The date of Test 2 is not 23 October 2007, but is, instead 18 October 2007, the preceding Thursday. Apologies. The coverage will be the same, however, through Section 8.5. Apologies, d.l.r. 1. Tue Aug 21 10:54:43 EDT 2007 Folks, The first thing you need to do is to go to your class's page and click on the Essential Handouts link. Then all the items on that page need to be printed or down-loaded for convenient viewing. Read each carefully. Then go to the FAQ page as questions arise. This should take care of many of the routine queries that arise at the beginning of the term. Explore the site further to your heart's content. If you have additional questions, you may ask in person or via e-mail but you must provide an appropriate subject line and "sign" your post so that I can identify you, if you actually expect to get a reply. Incidentally, if you have registered for one of my courses and have not satisfied the pre-requisites or have been out of school so long that you have forgotten them, do yourself a favor by dropping the current course and adding one for which you have the knowledge to proceed with some hope of success. I do not grade on a curve. I do not allow the use of calculators in Calculus I, Calculus II, or Differential Equations at exam time. You will not be allowed to use derivative tables, integral tables, or tables of trigonometric function values or identities. Kindly do not keep a qualified student out by registering for a Mathematics course that you do not have the preparation to pursue with a reasonable probability of success. Onward, into the magic or into the abyss?? d.l.r.
