She is the director of the Brain and Behavioral Development Laboratory. Bethany received her Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico in 2006. Her research has three main goals:

  1. To uncover the extent to which social stimuli influence early learning in typically developing infants and children.
  2. To determine the neural correlates of associative learning and how individual differences in these neural correlates relate to the emergence of social behavior in typically developing infants and children.
  3. To examine individual differences in associative learning and its neural correlates in populations who are at risk as a result of genetic or environmental factors.
