ABOUT THE GROUP

We study the physical, chemical, and biological properties of nanoscale materials and systems, ranging from nanostructured materials to small organic molecules, conducting polymers, and biomolecules, individually or at small quantities.

One goal of our research is to discover and understand new physical phenomena, properties, and functions at the nanoscale. Another is to translate research discoveries into practical devices, tools, and applications relevant to promoting health and combating disease.

To acheive the goals, we develop sophisticated instruments, including hybrid SPM systems integrating mechanical, electrical, electrochemical, and optical methods. We create/fabricate novel micro/nano solid-state devices and engineeered tissues using top-down and bottom-up approaches. We also investigate and detect molecular and nanoscale materials in confined nanoscale environments and complex cellular and tissue environments at the single-cell level.
