Textbook: Fourth edition of An introduction to Analysis by W.R. Wade, published by Pearson/Prentice Hall. The material I plan to cover includes 1-2(review of proofs, fundamental axioms of R, and sequences), 3(3.1-3.4 continuity and uniform continuity), 4(4.1-4.5; differentiability on R and applications), 5(Chap 6 in Rudin's book; Riemann-Stieltjes integral), 6(6.1-6.4; infinite series of real numbers), 7(7.1-7.5; sequences and series of functions), 8(8.1-8.4; topology of Rn).

Communication: If
need be, I will communicate with you through Canvas and your FIU
email account; so
be sure to check them often.
Attendance: It is strongly recommended that you attend all class meetings. If you cannot attend a lecture, it is your responsibility to cover the missed material or to get the notes from a class mate.
Lecture recordings: All lectures are recorded, so that you can go back and watch whatever portion of the material covered, that you want. However, no portion of the recordings should be uploaded on any social media platform. The three in-class tests will make up 45% of the
final
grade, while attendance and class participation account for 5% each.
The final exam will be
worth 30%. The six quizzes will make up the remaining 15% of
the grade.
There will be no make-up for missed tests. If you miss
a test and you produce a doctor certificate indicating that you were
sick
and unable to write the test, then the corresponding grade will be
added
to the final exam grade, otherwise, a zero will be recorded for any
missed
test/quiz/participation.
Invest yourself in the homework, and participation problems, so that
you can be fully prepared for all exams, and other advanced analysis
classes in the future.
Honesty Statement:
FIU defines academic misconduct in the Student Conduct and Honor Code (Code) as, “any act or omission by a Student, which violates the concept of academic integrity and undermines the academic mission of the University in violation of the Code.” Code violations include, but are not limited to: academic dishonesty, bribery, cheating, commercial use, complicity, falsification, and plagiarism. Important Dates
November
2 is the last
date to drop the course with a DR grade. It is of a great
importance that you accurately assess your course performance prior to
this date. The university
is closed on Monday
September 7 for
Labor Day, Wednesday November 11
for Veterans Day holiday, and November
26-27 for Thanksgiving.
