Kathryn Chabaud, recently defended her Doctoral thesis on The Development of Microfluidic Paper-Based Analytical Devices for the Detection of Low Explosives. Congrats Dr. Chabaud.
Dr. Hye Hyun OH said " We were with Bruce McCord at different times. But they all have one thing in common. One was a LOC member of the ISFG2017, one is a Congress president of the ISFG2019, and the other became the new president of ISFG. And one is the future of ISFG. I was so happy to meet Bruce here in Prague." What a blast.
Hussain Alghanim, recently defended his Doctoral thesis on the Development of DNA Methylation Markers for Smoking, Body Fluids Types and Age. Congrats Dr. Alghanim.

Mirna & Fabiana were selected as ISHI ambassadors for the 30th International Symposium on Human Identification that will be held in Palm Springs, CA in September 2019. ISHI is the largest annual meeting focusing entirely on DNA forensics. Check ISHI blog
In July 2019, Nicole & Mirna were awarded a tuition scholarship to attend the 24th Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics (SISG) at the University of Washington in Seattle,WA. They participated in different modules such as Statistical Genetics, Forensic Genetics and Computational Pipeline for WGS Data.
In May 2019, TJ attended the Cottrell Scholars Collaborative Fourth National Teaching Assistant Workshop where he learned to design and assess laboratory instruction and TA training initiatives with a focus on implementing active learning pedagogies in the laboratory.
Congrats Nicole, a McKnight Doctoral Fellow, for being awarded the NIH fellowship Transdisciplinary Training in Biomolecular and Biomedical Sciences (TBBS). This fellowship is designed to reinforce the program’s transdisciplinary, teamwork-based approach for Ph.D. research and training.
