Passing either PHY2053 or PHY2048, Physics I with or without calculus are the prerequisites for this course. Panthersoft should impose this requirement but if you have not taken one of these or their equivalent elsewhere you will likely struggle in this class. The class is a continuation of mechanics (Physics 1) and builds significantly on the material from that course.

You will also need access to a computer, PC or Mac although with Macs some of the homework system features we use may not properly work without some fiddling.  All homework assignments are through the Masterinphysics online homework system and the assignments are graded through that system and count towards 15% of your grade. Also we routinely inform you about important course activities and do so through your FIU email. We use panthersoft to access the student roll and can not modify the email listed there. If you want communications go to a non-FIU email then you should alias your FIU email to point to your other email.
