Jana Freeman
University of California- San Francisco (UCSF)

Jana travelled to Mysore to engage in a two month research experiences at PHRII as part of a post-baccalaureate pre-medical school program. While there, she examined the prevalence & correlates of primary infertility among young women in Mysore. Currently, Jana is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF School of Medicine.

Dionne Stephens
NIH GHES Junior Faculty Fellow

Dionne applied for and was awarded a Junior Faculty Global Health Equity Scholar Fellowship (GHES) in 2014. Her mixed methods project examined perceptions of gender based violence among emerging adults in the region. She is now an Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of the Global Health Study Abroad Program at Florida International University.

Noah Kojima
University of California- Los Angeles (UCLA)

While a medical student at UCLA, Noah went to PHRII to study the pathogenesis of bacterial vaginosis using molecular methods. Dr. Kojima graduated from the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California- Los Angeles in 2019 and now specializes in Internal Medicine.

John Adams
Prevention International: No Cervical Cancer

John travelled to PHRII to collaboration in developing the "The Centre of Excellence for Cancer Prevention in Women" that he want to create through collaboration with Prevention International: No Cervical Cancer (PINCC). WHile there he and his partner Rhonda carried out PINCC clinics in a catholic hospital, a government hospital, and a private hospital.

Mari Curry
Emory University

Mari Curry was an Infectious Diseases Fellow from Emory University School of Medicine's Division of Infectious Diseases. She came to PHRII as part of the NIH Fogarty Post Doctoral Program. While at PHRII, Mari conducted a pilot study to gather data on latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) prevalence among diabetics living in Mysore and the surrounding region.

Alexander Pop
Florida International University

While working at PHRII, Alexander administered eye and general health check to school children in rural areas outside of Mysore. Dr. Pop graduated from the FIU Herbert Wertheim College Of Medicine in 2016. He currently specializes in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, and is affiliated withthe Einstein Medical Center of Philadelphia.
