Class' Notes (Click here for access)

Need help with a problem? You can send me an email or see me during my office hours. If you want just the answer (I don't recommend it) then you can use Symbolab - it shows you the steps you need to get the answer.
Make sure to check the advice from former students below!

Advice from former students:

Do not fall behind on homework. The two biggest advantages I found in the class were asking the professor questions (he really strives to help teach in a way that you can understand) and utilizing the "Show Example" function on MyMathLabs. This feature allows you to work through your problem as you are guided through a similar problem and it can really help you figure out the steps you might get stuck on.

The main advice that I would give a future student is to complete all of the homework before class. This was crucial for me because not only did I have to learn it myself to finish the homework but when I went to class is was more of a review. This helped me comprehend the material much more and prepared me for all the exams in the process. Once this habit starts to kick in it will trickle down to all your other classes and the results speak for themselves.

Whenever you’re confused, ask for clarification. The professor is there to help you and it is important for you to communicate with him. In-class work is always useful in regard to test days so make sure that you understand those concepts.

Pay attention in class, pay even more attention during homework and quizzes, review your in-class quizzes and exams, do all your study guides, and make sure you know how to solve problems without looking them up on your phone. Trust me.

For many, Math is not an easy subject. It requires dedication. As long as you are involved and paying attention in class, keeping up with the homework and emailing the teacher for any doubts, you've got an A. The homeworks are for practicing so don't get lazy with them. Besides, many problems in there are similar/helpfull for further quizes and exams!

As long as you pay attention to the lectures, put effort into the homework, and study for a few hours before every exam there will be no issues with the class. Professor Zjevik is fair in his grading policies and workload. He lets you know when homework is due and when exams will be taking place well in advance. Don't leave everything for the last second and you will be just fine.

The advise I would give is to do all the homework as soon as the class is over, since the information is still fresh in your mind. I would also say to do the test reviews completely to get as much practice as you can.
Angela R.
Do not settle for average scores on homeworks or quizzes. Make sure all assignments are finished before their due dates and aim for high scores on them. Take the time out to actually study what is being taught and ask for help from either the professor or the LAs about anything you may not understand. Attend every class and take advantage of any extra credit opportunities offered.

The professor is great. If you pay attention and do all the assignments you’ll do good. Practice is everything in this class as well

Practice the exercises you don’t understand, ask questions if you need answers, and don’t miss any class. Also, do the exercises from Pearson Lab, it helped me the most.

Hi everyone,
My advice to you guys would be to do the homework assignments and tests directly after the professor finishes teaching each section, that way you would practice and apply what you just learnt immediately before forgetting how it works. That worked pretty well for me. Also pay attention in class and attend every class because the professor explains the concepts in an as simple as he can make them way, in the end calculus is calculus but the professor truly makes it easier. Plus make use of the office hours, ask questions, and always clear any doubts you might have before the exam. Finally finish the Aleks pie as early as possible in the beginning of the semester because it really refreshes your memory in all the past math concepts needed for the course. Best of luck.

Although the class is not easy, professor is so nice. If you go to every class, take notes, pay attention, and study, you can get an A. You should do all the Homework and quizzes; take your time to do your HW and quizzes; they are very helpful, and they are a good way to study. If you have a doubt, do not hesitate to email the professor or ask him after class. Try not to miss classes. You should plan to study a few days before each exam, study the reviews (they are so useful), and take advantage of the tutoring center; find a tutor to help you.

Hi guys, this is not an easy class, but if you do all the homework and attend every class (just like I did) you will pass the class. I got an A in this class without doing anything out of the ordinary. Just study before tests and don't miss any classes, as it is easy to fall behind. Best of luck!

Students should go to every class and take lots of notes. Professor explains everything well and writes it all down, if you don’t know how to do a homework problem or have a doubt, don’t hesitate to email him or go to his office hours. Also, if you have a quick question you can ask him after class and he will help you. Make sure you understand everything and if you don’t, ask the professor. Also, for tests and quizzes, study the reviews and some homework problems you struggled with. Plan to start studying days before the exam/quiz because you won’t be able to learn and practice the material the day before.

Start studying ahead of time and take advantage of the tutoring center.

Make sure to go over his reviews that he makes for the upcoming exams, as well as old reviews he had for the same chapter exam but in his previous classes. All his notes are online, so if you miss class, make sure to go back and check them out. The homework is also very helpful so take your time on it and use it as a resource to study.

Just put in the time in studying. Better to study for 15-20 minutes every day, then to study hours cramming before the test. This is the kind of material that is best learnt through repetition over time. As well, if you're in Ondrej's class, make sure to take full advantage of all the resources he provides. His class notes, and guides with answers are a great resource to study from, and understand how he gets to the solutions. Best of luck!

Advice I would give to a student in MAC2233 (Business Cal) is to go to all the classes. Get help outside the class, hire a tutor. Get 100% on all homework and quizzes big percentage of the grade. Put in over 30 hours leading up to the test and you will get a 100. Study the study guides.
Joseph Suarez
Pay attention in class, attend every class, take notes, do the homework, ask teacher for help if you do not understand something, research rather than “cheat” on your homework if you are having problems.
Andrey
Be proactive, I took this class twice because I wasn't proactive with the class early on. The second time around, I aced the class (largely due to a better teacher as well). Once you start understanding the content, the class really flies by.
